The Shadow over Innsmouth

Original title: La sombra sobre Innsmouth

H. P. Lovecraft

Synopsis:

An immersive, dark journey to the rundown seaside town of Innsmouth, full of disturbing secrets and gothic horror legends

Innsmouth wasn’t always the decrepit, muddy ruin it is today. In years gone by, commerce with distant native communities of the Pacific filled its coffers and nets with wealth. But along with the gold and abundant fishing came strange cults and, beginning with the Marsh, who led those remote expeditions, the inhabitants of Innsmouth began to carry around with them
strange talismans and chant peculiar orations in blasphemous rituals. All of which, they say, is now dead and gone, because a merciless military operation wiped out those impious manifestations.

The protagonist and narrator arrives in derelict Innsmouth almost by chance. Soon, the streets become a trap and a labyrinth. With each passing moment, the horror still lurking in the town reveals itself in evermore disturbing, twisted and macabre ways. As a backdrop there is the sea, the source of ancient, inhuman horrors, which, as the protagonist will discover too late, can nestle at the very heart of our existence.
