Fernando Valladares is a doctor of Biology, a researcher in the Spanish National Research Council and associate professor at King Juan Carlos University Madrid. A much-referenced scientist, he has carried out a range of investigative projects about the role of biodiversity and the impact of climate change and human activity on different ecosystems. in 2021 he received the Rei Jaume I Award in the category of Environmental Protection and the Biophilia Award for Environmental Science Communication from the BBVA Foundation. His concern surrounding the climate crisis has motivated him to actively speak out and inform people about the issue via a range of media outlets as well as his own social media channel 'Human Health'. Recivilisation is his first book for the general reader.
