Fernando Hernández Sánchez is a professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid and of Secondary Education, PhD in Contemporary History by the UNED. Member of the Association of Historians of the Present, he chairs the Association Entresiglos 20-21, dedicated to research on the teaching of recent history in schools. His research focuses on the communist movement in Spain. He has published articles in journals such as Historia16 and La Aventura de la Historia, and is the author of several books, including Comunistas sin partido (Communists with Parties) (2007), Los años de plomo (Lead Years) (2015), and La frontera salvaje (The Wild Border) (2018). He co-authored El desplome de la República (The Collapse of the Republic) (2009) with Ángel Viñas.
