Andrés Mourenza

Andrés Mourenza (A Coruña, 1984) lives in Istanbul, where he works for El País, Onda Cero, Cuatro, and Revista 5W, among others. After studying journalism in Barcelona and Sienna, he spent six years in Istanbul, from 2005 to 2011, where he began his journalistic career working for El Periódico de Catalunya and the EFE agency. Apart from Turkey, he covers, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Iraq, and Cyprus. In 2011 he moved to Greece as a correspondent for EFE. He returned to Turkey in 2014. He is author, with Professor Francisco Veiga, of the book The Return of Eurasia (Península, 2012) as well as of the travel book Transcaucasia Express and the essay The Genesis of Atavism. In 2017 he received the first Buena Prensa Prize in the category of Unforeseen Events. He speaks Turkish, English, Italian, and Greek.
